6/6 لا يمكن مواجهة النصرة بالهروب وإشاعة التشاؤم، ولا بالنقد الليبرالي، ولا بالوعظ الوطني والعلماني. يمكن ويجب مواجهتها بجبهة اجتماعية سياسية قوية تتطلع إلى أوسع انخراط للسوريين في حياة بلدهم العامة. ملايين السوريين الناشطين سياسياً هم أمنع قوة أمام مصادرة الثورة لأي طرف متشدد.

6/6 .Jihadists can’t be countered with despair, liberal critique, or secular sloganeering. We need a strong social & political coalition mobilizing across society. Millions of politically active Syrians are the best safeguard against any extremist hijacking of the revolution.

5/6.We can’t embrace HTS' military effectiveness against the regime while ignoring its ideology;. Nor fixate on its ideology and overlook its key role in resisting a regime that’s been killing Syrians non-stop for years. Focusing on one side makes an effective policy impossible.

4/6.If we judge them through a pragmatic political lens, jihadists appear more favorable in the context of fighting Assad's regime. But if we look ahead to the social, political, and cultural implications of their hardline salafism, the verdict is inevitably negative.

3/6.But what undermines the revolution politically also supports it militarily:. The jihadists are some of the most disciplined and effective fighting force, aligning with the revolution's negative goal (ending the regime) rather than its positive goal (a democratic Syria.).

2/6.First, lowering our expectations. The jihadist worldview is hostile to modernity and its values; it's a dangerous, corrupt, and conspiratorial modern world. This fosters adversarial relations, isolationism, and repression of those labeled as secular or Westernized.

5/6 لا نستطيع أن نرحب بفاعلية النصرة القتالية ضد النظام ونعمى عن تكوينها وتفكيرها؛. ولا أن نثبِّت أنظارنا على التكوين والتفكير، ونغفل عن الدور المهم في مقاومة نظام مستمر منذ أعوام في قتل السوريين دون توقف. يركز بعضنا على أحد الوجهين دون الآخر، فيتعذر بناء سياسة عامة فعالة.

4/6 فإذا كان مدخلنا إلى الحكم عليها هو المدخل السياسي العملي، بدت لنا في ضوء أكثر إيجابية في شروطنا الحالية من مواجهة النظام الأسدي. أما إذا كان مدخلنا هو ما بعد النظام والاحتمالات الاجتماعية والسياسية والثقافية المكنونة في النموذج السلفي الجهادي كان محتماً للحكم أن يكون سلبياً.

3/6 لكن ما يمثل خصماً من الثورة كقيم سياسية واجتماعية هو في الوقت نفسه سند للثورة كفاعلية عسكرية ضد النظام. فجبهة النصرة من المجموعات المقاتلة الأكثر انضباطاً وكفاءة، وهي صعدت باطراد مع تقدم الهدف السلبي للثورة، التخلص من النظام، على هدفها الإيجابي، سوريا الجديدة الديمقراطية.

2/6 قبل كل شيء، خفض التوقعات. النظرة الإسلامية المعاصرة إلى العالم الحديث متشائمة، ترى فيه مكاناً شريراً وخطراً وفاسداً وخبيثاً ومتآمراً، وهو ما يؤسس لعلاقة عدائية، ولسياسة انعزال وتجنب المشابهة، وفي الداخل لقمع من يحتمل أن يوصفوا بالعلمانيين أو التغريبيين أو المنبهرين بالغرب.
