5. Same exact border style is used for the comment textbox and the buttons. The buttons don't look like buttons and the textbox doesn't look like a textbox. Very confusing.

I know what goes on internally at Stack Overflow building these things. I know my friends over there have good intentions, a lot of thought went into this. And negative feedback sucks. Been there. But please listen to meta on this one ( https://t.co/EDm8ggMFOA - currently at -93).

BTW, we built the comments in the Staging Ground to be usable on the main site. They have votes where they should be, threaded comments (!!), include a profile image. Just saying.

4. Just too much vertical padding all around. Look at my image on the top of this thread. Literally 5 comments fit in where 10 used to. I can see getting away from the user info and date being crammed at the end of the comment and put on its own line, but not like this please.

3. I couldn't care less about the user profile image of the user who left the comment. Does not deserve top-billing. And while the user info is important, having it on-top of the comment is a distraction.

…Now votes are stuck under the comment text, in a too-tall column, with an unevenly-padded border. And even though you are using s-btn__xs which is supposed to result in a smaller button and font-size 11px, you overrode this and it is font-size 15px.

2. I most about being able to quickly scan the comments for things that are useful. Comment votes are a good indicator. When they were in the leading column and had colors to indicate higher votes, this led to more efficient visual scanning…

1. Comments are not main data. We dont want them to be the same font-size as the questions and answers - this will encourage misuse of comments. We don't want code-blocks in comments.

I realize that engagement is down, and there is a push to change things. But this just makes things so user unfriendly. Some thoughts and more pointed feedback to follow…

I am saying this as userId 51, as the author of threaded comments in the Staging Ground, and as a proponent of continuing to develop the UI/UX on @StackOverflow and not just keeping things like they have been just because: the new comments UI is soooo bad. OMG. <cringe> horrible.
