Kate is an asset to our YCRBCIP team ensuring that what we do and how we do it provides clear benefits to patients and also reflects their priorities.
Kate Bartholomew was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2017 and now uses her experience to help others. “I volunteer as a patient representative on the @YCR_BCIP. Whatever I can give back, in the way of knowledge, skills or experience, that’s what I want to do.” 💙

YCRBCIP continues to make huge progress in improving the care for cancer patients - that's why I volunteer to do all I can to help. I had a bowel cancer diagnosis in 2017. 3 ops and both chemo & radiotherapy, and I’m still here and happy to be BCIP's Patient's voice.

⭐ Becky, a member of the @YCR_BCIP team, chose to dedicate a Yorkshire Star to her grandad, who sadly passed away when she was six years old. “My grandad is the reason I work in cancer research to this day.” #YorkshireStars

Lynch syndrome is an inherited genetic condition which increases a person’s risk of developing some types of cancer, including bowel cancer. There is a genetic test that can help prevent cancer or find it early. However, who gets access to this has become a postcode lottery.

When it comes to emergency diagnosis of cancer, research shows that England compares poorly to other countries. But our analysis reveals that Yorkshire fares even worse. It’s time to level up Yorkshire. 🧵 1/4
