For Remembrance last week we looked at the story of the Unknown Warrior. Our prefect team delivered beautiful assemblies, sharing stories of men who served. Dan and Seren sold poppies across the school and did such a fantastic job, they sold out very quickly #RemembranceDay

Another teacher has made this ‘conflict at a glance’ post about the history of Ukraine and Russia. It’s a good place to start if you have any questions about the events unfolding on the news.
For obvious reasons, the situation in Ukraine hit peak interest in school. Students keen for answers/reassurance. Tip of the iceberg but the ‘conflict at a glance’ looks to the geography, history/politics of the dispute. Hopefully it provides accessible insight. #historyteacher

7A did a brilliant job reenacting the events of 1066 today and even employed a little artistic licence after finding out the Bayeux Tapestry may not have been an entirely accurate account of the Battle of Hastings

Tremendous source work from Jasmine in Year 7. This budding historian used evidence to piece together the story of the Battle at Little Bighorn. Well done Jasmin! 👏👏

We’ve been so impressed with the enquiry work from Year 8 this week. Pupils are investigating life in the trenches in World War One, with everything from food to the Christmas truce and nursing and letters from the front line being explored. Da iawn pawb! #yourtownmadeperfect

On Monday, a group of budding archeologists with local historian, Phil Cope, visited Capel Mair. They searched for signs of an Iron Age fort built centuries before the Normans arrived. In school we shared ideas of how to educate visitors to the chapel #learning #Archaeology

This fantastic young lady brought in medals, military belts and badges that belonged to ancestors who had served in the war. She told us all about her family history. She also brought in a Widow’s Penny too and we were completely overwhelmed! Thank you much for sharing!

We’ve been investigating inventions from the medieval period and their impact on the world. Today we pitched them to our YCB Dragon’s Den. Great work, Year 7! 🗣💡

7A investigating medieval life...we can’t decide what was worse, the bear baiting or the punishments? 🤷🤷♀️
