We have been learning about the Industrial Revolution in Year 5 and had a fabulous debate today. Half the class were proposers arguing for the motion the house believes the Match Girls were treated unfairly, and the other half opposed the motion. Well done everyone!

We have been gripped by The Match Girls Strike and have gained a brilliant understanding of this significant event in history. Today, we have identified the key points and messages from this information to prepare for our debate on Friday.

In English, we have really enjoyed reading and analysing the ‘Song of the Match Girl’ poem by Michaela Morgan. It is a powerful, thought provoking poem which has really inspired us.
