Right. Kissing a girl once and a wallet full of hints does not queer rep make. These inflated stats will be the basis of people going “we don’t need more queer characters, look”.
I’m all for subtext but this would be more accurate counting from when it was made explicit on the page/confirmed by a writer. Otherwise it implies a long history of diverse storytelling that didn’t actually happen until relatively recently (and even then barely TBH).
