I attended a church shortly after college where the pastor said this one Sunday: “The things you hide in your 20s/30s will haunt you in your 40s. The things you continue to hide in your 40s will destroy you in your 50s/60s.” He got caught later that year.

Elections these days: "Candidate A is not allowed to be around women or young girls, Candidate B publicly fantasizes about murdering his opponents, and Candidate C is a nice person who is opposite you on almost every important question. Good luck!"

If you're using AI to write your sermons, it doesn't matter how "good" you think the final product is. You have discarded the personal growth that comes from studying the text and every other area of your pastoring will suffer tremendously for it.

The reason for slowing down in ministry is so that we build up rather than speed up, to avoid breaking up.

“My family was super religious, but I rejected it young.” That story gets told a lot—but it’s rare. Just 2% say they had a very religious childhood and left early. In reality, religion is usually passed down. Your parents' faith tends to become your own.

Why do Christians often fear evangelism? One thought: In the West, Christians commonly blend in till we speak. Speaking exposes the difference. In the Bible, Christians live differently—starkly so (1 Pet 2:12)—and speaking Helps. It explains what is otherwise baffling (3:15).

Fun Facts about the Psalms: 1. Most quoted OT book in the NT 2. Ps. 110 is the most quoted OT chapter in the NT (about 33x) 3. All but 22 of the 150 psalms are quoted or alluded to in the NT (thus 85% of psalms found their way into NT). 4. The Gospels comment on all the

Really small moment that I found cool from Tennessee basketball's practice Monday. When a player draws Rick Barnes' ire and gets sent to run the stairs, another player always runs with them. Early in Monday's practice, Barnes sent Grant Hurst to run the stairs but the drill

Beware of the “emotional prosperity gospel”—the idea that spiritual maturity means you no longer wrestle with sadness, anxiety, or trauma. True maturity isn’t the absence of struggle, but learning to trust God through it.

Sometimes it feels like 80% of biblical counseling is helping people learn to speak, pray, and live the Psalms—giving voice to pain, anchoring in truth, and rediscovering hope in the presence of God.

"Our church doesn't have any community for you." We say this at our "Start Here" class at the church. Why? Because it's both true and practical. 1) people are not commodities. We don't "have" them "for" you. 2) community is not a commodity. You can't take it off a shelf and

I was ashamed of myself when I realized life was a costume party, and I attended with my real face. —Franz Kafka There's no embarrassment that Jesus can't cover and remove. He sees our real faces—and he loves us anyway. Take him at his word. Be freed from your shame.
