I'm so happy to see these cards represented so well, and relieved the designers did in fact prove me wrong, demonstrating rather deep knowledge of the games. I don't take back what I said about yesterday's cards, I still don't think they're good, but these are so much better!

Sin is a pretty deep cut. The exiled copies are an excellent representation of the "dream" people of Zanarkand. Sin itself has nothing to do with the dreams, instead it's Yu Yevon, who uses/possesses Sin. So even without referencing Yu Yevon directly, they still got that across.

Emet-Selch is great. First off, Vigilance, looting, perfectly on brand. Transforming off the number 14 is great, iykyk, it's not "just" because it's FF14. And as the keeper of the dead, Hades, it is his duty to revive his fallen brethren, the Yawg Will effect is perfect!

Feeling a lot better about the #MTGxFINALFANTASY spoilers from the stream today. They feel so much more like better representations of the characters than the commander cards from yesterday and I'm really excited! Gonna gush about the flavor rq, so heavy spoiler warning.

All-in-all I'm still holding out hope that the rest of the FF cards look a bit better, but this was not a very good kickoff to this spoiler season. I'm really disappointed. Terra and Y'shtola in particular are just awful representations of their characters.

Y'shtola feels completely bland with no flavor in her abilities whatsoever. It's like all the designers knew about her is that "she casts big spells". They took her design/epithet from the arc where she had the most character and personality, so how come she's so bland?

Tidus isn't too bad. I kinda like the Sphere Grid aspect they were going for. But the Sphere Grid doesn't allow for moving abilities around your party, so it's a bit off. Also, how does Tidus not have Haste?

Cloud has been pretty much reduced to "hurr big sword". While I agree the Buster/Fusion sword are the most notable aspects of Cloud, they're not what give him his abilities. Everything he has is in his bloodstream, not his gear. So why is he so focused on it?

Why is Terra black? Why does Trance make her mill and give her flying instead of some sort of amplified spells? Why does she reanimate? In the article they said they wanted to have the post-WoR feeling of "rebuilding your party" but then shouldn't the face be Celes with tutoring?

I'm so excited for #MTGxFinalFantasy, having been a huge FF fan forever. But seeing the commanders for the precons today, I can't help but be disappointed by how... weak their designs feel. The cards mostly feel like soulless representations of the characters. 1/?

A MTGO League is hardly NRGChamps level proof, but I genuinely think we had a cracked deck. Building this with @G_Relentless_ @StephenDykman and @Fencingbrick was simply great vibes, and I just had to come home and play it more before it (hopefully) goes away with the Ring ban.

Took down #NRGINDY Team Trios with my teammates Taidhg and @Fencingbrick yesterday! Also took a mixed-feelings 17th place on breakers in the Modern 10k on Sat. Had a great weekend both with the squad and with Magic overall.
