Does anyone else struggle with keeping a story streamlined? ESPECIALLY if you, like me, are a writer with adhd. Advice?.

Anyone looking for a true rough draft critique partner/writer buddy? Fantasy genre, YA, na, adult, romantasy, etc.

I’m revisiting a very old draft, and it’s both so much fun and so bittersweet, because I’ve lost touch with the critique partner and friend who helped shape and develop it. It would be too awkward to reach out, years later.

I just don’t know how long it’s going to take for me to get used to being asked “which tropes are in your book?” Like a book is a skeleton of tropes with a plot glued on.

When did publishing make the switch from marketing stuff as trope-subverting to “tropes as major selling points?”.

Which is sad in so many ways. But the clearest, I think, is all the people I’ve lost touch with. I was deeply grieving a painful loss for a long time, and didn’t have the energy to keep up with others, who all faded out of touch. Now, most aren’t even on twitter.

It’s funny. There’s things I’ve wanted to say in my three-year-long hiatus from twitter that I haven’t found the words for. But now it’s more clear there’s not really a site to come back to.
