Awesome light show last night. Didn't get any good bolts but the rising moon behind me and in-cloud bolts illuminated this line of storms to the northwest of Tallahassee last night. Also pictured is the Big Dipper. #Astrophotography #FLwx

This is not true. NWS offices are NOT overstaffed. Every NWS office in the country has several unfilled positions. What she is probably referring to is that staff who were off work were brought in on overtime to aid in the response to active weather, because they're dedicated.
Leavitt: "There were record-breaking lead times in the lead up to this catastrophe . in fact, one of the offices was actually overstaffed. They had more people than they need."

Unintentional storm chasing today. 1.5 to 1.75 inch hail around 523p CT near I-10 south of Marianna. Retrieved this hailstone about 10 mins (533p) after it likely fell so some melting. Didn't have a coin in the car but did have Bucee's chapstick 😅. #FLwx @spann @NWSTallahassee

So busy today at work that I almost forgot about this being the one year anniversary of the 2024 May Solar Storm! I traveled to just north of Bainbridge Georgia and saw the most incredible aurora. Still hard to believe I saw this at a latitude of 31°N.
