I was lucky enough to take a few nice trips this year. The one that has to stand out the most was my trip to Yellowstone in January. It was such a unique, magical experience, seeing the park in the winter. This was probably my favorite picture from that visit. It looked like a

Probably like most folks around my age I was taught how to write cursive in second or third grade. So I've written that way practically my entire life. Today I realized that I can't remember how to write a capital G in cursive. This is how it starts, isn't it.

Several years ago I was in St. Charles, Missouri for their annual Christmas Traditions, which runs from Thanksgiving through Christmas. It's a charming event where a number of historic Christmas characters come to life, including several different versions of Santa Claus. One

If you're a pet person, you'll enjoy this nice story by local journalist Galen Culver about a cat reunited with his family in time for Christmas. https://t.co/s994AQM2nf

Disappointing ending for Oklahoma, but a really good season, especially considering the schedule they faced. Congratulations to Alabama. They earned the win. Good luck next week against Indiana. You're going to need it I think. Get em next season, guys. #BoomerSooner

I posted this five years ago, and seeing several references to the Wright Brothers today on the anniversary of their first flight, I thought I'd give it a boost. It's about the little-known fellow who took one of history's most famous photos.
We could all use a distraction right now, so here's my offering. Saturday @BeschlossDC shared this iconic image of the Wright Brothers first flight, coinciding with the Space-X launch. I was struck by the contrast, but I suddenly found myself wondering, who exactly had taken it?

Short 𧡠Spent a fun evening at the Oklahoma City Zoo over the weekend, taking in their wonderful Christmas lights. Most of the displays are internally lit, and the colors really do pop. 1/2...

The people of Oklahoma City stand with the people of Australia and our fellow humans everywhere facing darkness, hate, bigotry or violence. Tonight at Scissortail Park, we began Hanukkah in OKC by lighting the first candle of the menorah, a reminder that light always defeats

This photo says everything. In 1932, Rabbi Akiva Posner and his wife Rachel placed their menorah in the window of their home in Kiel, Germany, directly across from a Nazi headquarters flying the swastika. Rachel took this photo and wrote on the back: "Our light will outlast

#ICYMI Yesterday's "this day in history" story about the Navy nurses at Pearl Harbor. Before Pearl Harbor, an assignment aboard USS Solace made one βthe envy of all the nurses.β Then, of course, everything changed on December 7, 1941. #storytime π§΅π
On this day in 1941, Pearl Harbor reels from a surprise Japanese attack. Have you ever thought about the Navy nurses present on that day? Like many others, those nurses were abruptly shoved into war when Japanese planes unexpectedly descended upon the American base. /1 of X π§΅π

December 9th, 1978 was a Saturday. I was at my Saturday morning bowling league. We had just started the third game and I had three strikes when the phone call came. It's funny what you remember. In those days before cell phones you took calls at the front desk. I knew before

Silhouette of the Alabama Monument at Vicksburg National Military Park in Mississippi. The monument, located along the southern end of the park, was dedicated in 1951. One of the Alabama units present during the siege was the 20th Alabama Infantry, commanded by Colonel Isham W.
