This is not new to One UI 8, or Galaxy Z Fold7. Galaxy Z Fold6 has this too. Image below.
One UI 8 on the Galaxy Z Fold7 finally has a feature that allows you to continue using your phone after folding it by swiping up on the lock screen. If you don't swipe up after a few seconds, the screen will be locked. This is similar to what OPPO foldable phones already had.

After using it extensively for 3 days, I'm happy to report that Galaxy Z Fold7 doesn't immediately crease after use. A common perception was that the display would crease after folding it upon use.

This was my best purchase of 2025. I love my Galaxy Z Fold7 so much. It reinforced why dailying a Fold is one of the best things you can do. This phone is worth every single penny.
