Full release:
The Woodstock Police Services Board, Chief Renton and the members of the Woodstock Police Service send our condolences to the family of Constable Jason Geerts who passed away today following a courageous battle with ALS. Jason will be greatly missed.
Yesterday, WPS conducted a routine traffic stop and issued a ticket to an infant female for impersonating a police officer.
Police are now considering a new pilot project with a unit of mini police cruisers and adorable faces to determine if crime can be combated with cuteness.
Today we are wishing a well deserved happy retirement to Deputy Chief Darren Sweazey! It may be his last day, but he will always be a part of our WPS family. Thank you for your leadership, service & dedication to a career in policing! We hope you enjoy a long & happy retirement!
Yesterday PSD Striker stopped by Tim Hortons to support
#CampDay
! He took a while to decide what he wanted because there were so many delicious options and well... he is a Cop after all 🍩☕
Note to self: Striker has plenty of energy naturally and does not need a caffeine boost.
This morning we are giving a big welcome to our newest recruit! Mr. Simpson will be heading to Aylmer to attend the Ontario Police College this fall. Good luck and welcome to the WPS family!
Today we honour & celebrate the life of Chief Ron Fraser, a kind & generous man who spent 34 years serving his community with WPS. We thank him for leaving a legacy of leadership in his many roles including Chief of Police and City councillor. Rest peacefully Chief.

Our friend Kym is an international student who works at the courthouse and relies on a bike to get to work. Her bike was stolen from the court house, so some awesome WPS staff surprised her with a bike, helmet, light, lock, etc. to help her get to and from work safely! 🚲
Today would have been the 21st Annual Ceremony of Remembrance for fallen police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. We wanted to honour those brave souls even though the ceremony has been canceled due to the

pandemic.
