Last winter’s drainage work on the 8th — the course's lowest point — hasn’t yet been tested in this dry year. But come winter, we’re confident the greenkeepers will see the fruits of their labour, with this stunning hole draining better than ever and staying in top condition.

The view of the 15th from the clubhouse is always entertaining — whether it’s wayward drives from those who paused for a drink on the veranda, or no drives at all when a match shakes hands on 14 and you simply decide the veranda looks more inviting.

We pride ourselves on our convivial atmosphere and stunning heathland course, so it's a real honour to be included in @GolfClubAtlas' 147 Custodians — a list that celebrates courses which leave you invigorated, not exhausted, and eager to head straight back to the 1st tee.

Ground zero for strategic golf design. The two centreline bunkers — inspired by the Principal’s Nose at St Andrews and installed by members John Low and Stuart Paton — are where it all began.

There’s only one bunker on the long dogleg 3rd hole, but it’s in play for everyone. In recent years, significant tree removal has opened up the playing corridor of this long par four, placing much more of an emphasis on the approach shot, to one of our signature greens.

Our clubhouse wall art tells the story of our club and course, but few pieces capture the ethos of our club quite like this sketch that hangs outside the dining room. While we're predominantly a two-ball club, we also allow fourball golf on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.

Our chefs have been showcasing their talents at recent Club Majors and special events — and there’s no better spot to enjoy a hearty lunch than on the veranda overlooking the course.

The centreline bunkers on the 4th, secretly dug overnight by Stuart Paton and supported by John Low, are inspired by the Principal’s Nose at St Andrews. This bold move created strategy on the hole and unknowingly ushered in a new era of strategic course design.

A red kite might be fooled into thinking the 12th green is flat, but in reality, it’s the most severe on our course and arguably one of the most challenging across all our heathland neighbours.

The strategy on the 8th hole becomes clear when you reach the green, where four perfectly placed bunkers dictate that your tee shot needs to hug the right-hand side of the fairway, allowing you to chase the ball through the bunkers onto the green.

Congratulations to Denham for winning The Alba Trophy last weekend by 7 shots with an impressive 74 and 69. The tournament is a 36-hole scratch foursomes medal from the black tees, contested between Clubs and Societies we work with closely.
