1. NIL $ isnโ€™t the only thing recruits ask about. 2. High level college ๐Ÿˆ /๐Ÿ€ players are pro athletes. Going to school doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re not also a pro athlete. 3. For most of those athletes, their peak value as an athlete is in college. So they should be asking about $.

Scott Van Pelt weighs in on Nick Saban's NIL comments. "It's fantastic that players get to make money now. But every single coach, in every single revenue sport, if you're paying attention, is saying the same thing. This is the only thing that any recruit is asking about now."

@WinterSportsLaw It's totally demeaning to say NIL money is the only thing players & recruits ask about. Especially coming from people making millions per year off of the athletes, directly, at institutions bringing in millions of dollars from athletics. The athletes were the only ones left out.

@WinterSportsLaw I hear you, for sure. It didn't seem to be about asking for well-deserved money, though (rather than none at all), but about it being the main point for the first time ever, & the most determinant factor for the most talented players irrespective of it being good or bad.

@WinterSportsLaw Yes, when you interview for a job the one thing you want to know is what it pays. That is all you care about.

@WinterSportsLaw DO NOT KILL D1 ATHLETICS FOR A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF STUDENT ATHLETESโ€ฆ if they donโ€™t want to play COLLEGE athletics, let them go pro.

@WinterSportsLaw That is the fundamental question - FB/MBB players are most visible in college and have celebrity value ($), but that does not make them "pro" athletes - it makes them celebrities. For most, their skill will leave them short of actually playing in a professional league.

@WinterSportsLaw Most job advertisements post what the hourly wage is or salary plus gives an indication if there is benefits with the job etc. Now that the landscape of college recruiting has changed significantly-not sure why this is a big deal since it isnโ€™t in the business/labor market.

@WinterSportsLaw @DrKenyattaCavil This is HYPOCRISY of the highest order! Coaches want to retain power of college athletes, the way they did before NIL. The media hates it because they loose all the stories of interest. The media has been beating the drum to pay the athletes, now they wanna cry foul. SMDH.
