Ole Miss’ AD recently discussed how the need for NIL $ (and potential direct revenue sharing with athletes in the future) has affected plans to renovate the football stadium. We’ve seen a number of ADs say the same thing now. Athlete comp is taking precedence over facilities.

@WinterSportsLaw Makes you wonder who the facilities were being built for in the first place

@Siscoe_ Couldn’t recruit with cash, so built facilities to impress recruits.

@WinterSportsLaw There are countless examples of millionaire business owners that you'd never guess because they look like 'normal' people with no frivolous expenses. With #NIL & employment, schools must learn how to live 'normally.'

@WinterSportsLaw It should. For far too long Taj Mahal renovations have actually been funded by the ones playing football.

@WinterSportsLaw What?!? Paying the human being students who make school and conference administrators rich might take precedence over renovating a building that is totally fine?!?? What is this country coming to when we don’t use the money students generate to build luxury boxes?!

@WinterSportsLaw IMO stadium renovations will be a bigger priority when the dust settles. Practice/player facilities likely taking a back seat.

@WinterSportsLaw About time. All these new facilities, like dorms with lazy rivers, luxury donor lounges…were built with money that should have gone to players’ pockets. The athletic departments had to maintain non-profit status somehow!
