Buckingham Palace said a staff member had resigned after Ngozi Fulani, who is Black and was born in Britain, said she was repeatedly questioned about where she was from during a reception on Tuesday hosted by Camilla, the queen consort.

The founder of an antiviolence support group said an aide pressed her on where she was from, dismissing Britain as an answer. The palace called the questioning “unacceptable and deeply regrettable.”

The good ol yeah, but where are you REALLY from? And these people tried to act like Meghan Markle made it all up. SMH... Also this isn't just a random *staff member* -- it's Prince William's GODMOTHER, Lady Susan Hussey.

A speedy response from the Palace, who have a history of silence or denial for incidents regarding race. Lessons finally learned? Or is this just not wanting anything to overshadow the Wales' Boston visit. Arriving in the US amidst another race scandal wouldn't be the best start.

Listening to Ngozi Fulani on @LBC now and she says Buckingham Palace has not contacted her or apologised to her. This statement is a lie.

12/12 Laws to protect against discrimination, such as the Equality Act, must apply to the Royal family. They have form & reform seems a long way off. They must show leadership in urgent discussions & actions needed to effect change, & must atone, including through reparations.

11/12 & violence. All those women attending the Palace should have felt safe. Ngozi was a victim of abuse, othering & racism by the incessant probing. It is right that Lady Hussey has gone but a champion of women has been traumatized by a woman at an event for women. Ironic!

10/12 wants to retain the pomp & ceremony of yesterday as a reminder of a past glory, especially at a time when our position in the world is in freefall. Yesterday's event was to celebrate the work of women who champion the rights of women, particularly those experiencing abuse

1/12 Late last night, Radio 4 invited me to be interviewed this morning to discuss the current accusation of racism in the Royal family. With minutes to go, I was cancelled. I know this is a feature of broadcasting as I often see others reporting this, but it is bad planning.
