On her coffee table some artifacts were left behind the day we sped to the hospital: crossword puzzles (of the hardest variety, she keeps filling them in to keep her mind sharp) , playing cards, a candle in the form of a flower. At 92, until last month, she still did her own

We've seen numerous doctors and hospital staff these last months. But Mia has always displayed genuine affection for others, and got it in return. Here with our all-time favorite doctor Eljuga.

Mia was born June 6, 1933 and embraced life fully. The past year has been difficult for her, as pain became a central concern. But she never stopped being her happy self. Her cane has become a constant companion for her these last few years.

2024 has been wild - and challenging. My mom @MiavanR fell twice this last month, and she's spending the holiday season in the hospital. As part of the @CultureOnAvax Avaissance project under the shining wings of @aaronhuey , this is a tribute to Mia. I'm so proud of her.
