New video on the potentially major flash flooding tomorrow night into Sunday for southern Iowa is out now!

Why you ask? Well, in parts of south central Iowa yesterday nearly 7" of rain fell over a short 4 hour period. Many of the creeks, lakes, and ponds nearby are almost full to the brim and do not have enough time to empty much before this next round. Another 5+" of rain tomorrow.

Concerning forecast by the WPC for much of south central Iowa late tomorrow night after nearly 5-7" of rain fell yesterday over a few localized areas. Rivers, lakes, and streams are still extremely high and the ground is still very saturated, so another round of 2+" per hour of

The Chariton River in Moulton is forecasted to be above the flood-level threshold later this evening. I am currently going home to sleep for a bit (I've been up since 5:30am), then likely going back out later.

A flood watch has been issued for much of the region downstream of the areas that were hit with 7+" of rain earlier today.

The road on the south side of the Mystic reservoir is completely covered with water, likely 4+" covering the road right now.

The Mystic Reservoir is still overtopping its dam but T-14 is back open due to the water being low enough to not cross the highway anymore. The highway was closed earlier for around 15 minutes according to the ADM emergency manager. @NWSDesMoines

Just got word from the ADM emergency manager that the Mystic Reservoir overtopped it's dam and T14 north of town is closed. Headed that way to check it out. @NWSDesMoines.
