This morning a WH Officer was inside Lox Stock&bagels ordering breakfast for several officers. A customer heard what was ordered, and anonymously paid the bill. The Lox Stock staff and officer were very touched by this random act of kindness. Thank you "Fenwick"
Officer Miguel Godoy assisted a citizen who's elderly family member was unable to self-evacuate from a house fire last night. As a result of their actions, there were no injuries.

WHPD sadly announces the passing of retired brother officer, Elijah Suber Jr. Ofc. Suber was a member of the US Air Force, a Hartford Police Officer, worked for DOC, and a West Hartford school crossing guard. Ofc. Suber was the first Black police officer hired by the town

This morning, Officer Kelly Shimo responded to a residential call for service involving a pregnant mother in labor. Once on scene, Officer Shimo aided the parents in the delivery of their baby. WHPD wishes the family continued health and happiness!
The WHPD proudly welcomes home our brother officer, Zachary Kaesmann, after serving overseas for the past 10 months. Ofc. Kaesmann
was deployed as a Combat Medic with Apache Company 1-102nd Infantry to the Horn of my Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
While engaged in surveillance operations on New Park Avenue, due to previous burglaries, an alarm was activated at an area liquor store. Officers surrounded the business and as the suspect fled he was apprehended. Outstanding police work by WHPD midnight shift.

The West Hartford Police Department held a ceremony at Town Hall this evening to swear in Robert Riccobon as Assistant Chief of the WHPD. Assistant Chief Riccobon, a longtime town resident, has nearly 20 years with the department. Congratulations !!
Several members of the West Hartford Police Department volunteered to run in the Special Olympics Torch Run yesterday. Many Olympians joined the officers in West Hartford Center as well.

The WHPD is aware of social media posts regarding threats of school violence for. Dec 17. At this time we have no information that there are credible threats to any WH schools. In an abundance of caution you’ll see a strong presence of WHPD officers in schools today.

This morning, a West Hartford Police Officer observed a vehicle that had been previously stolen at gunpoint from another town. The vehicle engaged officers in a pursuit which ended in Hartford. More info to follow.

The WHPD sends our condolences to the New Haven Police Department and the family of Ofc Diane Gonzalez. Ofc Gonzalez was seriously injured on Sept 9, 2008. Ofc. Gonzalez remained in a coma until Jan 10, 2022 when she succumbed to her injuries. Rest in Peace Officer Gonzalez 💙

Chief Riddick recently spoke at the CT Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) regarding a partnership program connecting DCF, Ch 3 Kids Camp, and the CPCA. The pilot program provides an opportunity for DCF involved families to enjoy a two week camping experience at the Ch 3 Kids Camp

WHPD Emergency Services Unit team competed at 16th CT SWAT Challenge along with 24 teams from around the country. For 3 days, the team’s skills were challenged with timed scenarios. Proceeds go to help public safety and military personnel during difficult times.
