Both Siegfried and Parsifal are characterized by their stupidity. Both don't know women, until their first experience with one awakens sexual desire and brings about a loss of innocence. Both learn fear from women; Siegfried plunges deep into it, Parsifal recoils

Siegfried is some kind of anti-Schopenhauer. A dumb, naive egoist, brash and pugnacious. Whose (sexual) love for a woman ultimately brings the Ring back, while in Schopenhauer the sexual impulse only continues the cycle of suffering. This also makes him an anti-Parsifal.

I remember watching Götterdämmerung for the first time and being surprised when Siegfried meets Gunther and says:. "Now fight with me, or be my friend!". Apparently, Schopenhauer too was surprised at mature Siegfried's rashness: he put "!!!" in the margins next to this line

Goethe says aspiring writers should only read one Shakespeare play per year, because otherwise they might get discouraged, as Shakespeare "has already exhausted the whole of human nature . and that, in fact, there remains for him, the aftercomer, nothing more to do."
