Day 7 of the Sacsayhuaman walls excavations. As @Graham__Hancock would say, stuff just keeps on getting deeper. Pit #1 is now at about 180cm/6ft. It's still unclear whether there's another block underneath. We shall know tomorrow. The bottom seems to have been reached in pits

3/3.The rocks that you could see yesterday in pit #3 have been removed and we now see the geological layer of clay underneath the blocks. I'm sure some people will be disappointed that it doesn't go deeper, but it's also good news as it means it's now ready for sampling and

2/3.We can't see the bottom of the two buried blocks in pit #2 either, but given their proportions, it looks like we might know tomorrow whether there's another layer of blocks underneath or not.

Day 6 of "How deep do the Sacsayhuaman walls go?". Depth of pit #1 is now about 140cm and we still can't see the bottom of the buried block. 1/3

Update on the excavation of the Sacsayhuaman wall on day 2. Before you comment that they haven't made much progress, you should know that archaeological digs are slow for a reason, and that no, you cannot use a backhoe. I get the frustration, but patience is a virtue.
