As first reported by Space Scout, Blue Origin has been conducting engine hot firings at Test Stand 4670 at the Marshall Spaceflight Center. A video uploaded by Alabama Representative Dale Strong to Instagram today showed a BE-3U conducting the first firing on the test stand.

NASA and the @NASAGroundSys team stacked the Orion Capsule for Artemis I overnight. This was the final component to be stacked for the first Space Launch System rocket. The 322 ft. tall launch vehicle is currently expected to fly in early 2022.

Earlier this week, @NASAGroundSys stacked the Orion Stage Adapter (OSA) onto the SLS rocket. The OSA will allow Orion to interface with SLS during launch events. It will also be carrying 10 cubesats on the Artemis I mission later this year.

On December 29th the liquid oxygen tank for the Artemis II SLS core stage was moved to final assembly. There it will be joined with the liquid hydrogen tank as well as the engine section to complete the core stage for the first crewed flight of SLS.

. @LockheedMartin 's Skunk Works recently completed assembly of the @NASA X-59 QueSST airframe. The X-59 is an experimental supersonic aircraft designed to create a quieter sonic boom, allowing it to fly over populated areas. Its first flight is planned for mid-2022.

In a recent photo taken during @SenBillNelson 's visit to KSC, it was revealed that the Thermal Protection System on the Orion Capsule for Artemis 2 is nearing completion. This will be the first crewed mission to leave Low Earth Orbit since Apollo 17 flew in December, 1972.

The SLS Mobile Launcher is one of the most important components for liftoff. It is responsible for fueling and releasing the rocket at liftoff. This test in 2019 shows 3 of the 8 umbilicals being quickly moved into their retracted position, allowing SLS to safely clear the tower.

At this time 18 years ago, Space Shuttle Columbia broke up on re-entry. 4 days ago, it was the 35th anniversary of the Challenger disaster. Five days ago, it was the 54th anniversary of Apollo 1.

The Orion Launch Abort System consists of three separate solid rocket motor systems, stacked on top of each other for flight. The LAS was designed with the goal to make Orion the safest crewed spacecraft NASA has ever launched.

April 12 is an important day for spaceflight. 60 years ago today, the first crewed spaceflight ever took place, with Yuri A. Gagarin flying aboard the Soviet Vostok 1 rocket. 20 years after Vostok, the first Space Shuttle launch took place, with Young and Crippen on Columbia.
