What an honour and I think I look great. Much better posture and a smaller waistline at least.
Our tribute to #Malpeque MP, former Solicitor General and chair of the House of Commons Finance Committee, the Honourable Wayne Easter (@WayneEaster) who after 28 years of service has decided not to run in the next election. #cdnpoli #peipoli #pei #lpc

Funny how ppl comment on economic matters with no historical context! PM Chrétien cleaned up Mulroney’s $ 43 billion deficit in 3 yrs..PM Martin left a $13 billion surplus for Harper which he blew in his first year and left a $55 billion deficit in 2015. Those are the facts.

Rural Canada holds the key to driving our nation's growth. The untapped energy, the agriculture that feeds Canada and the world, and the entrepreneurial spirit of Canadians and our communities will shape our future. It's time to unleash the Canadian promise. Empowering

In the past 8 years, we've grown used to being shocked by Trump. Yesterday was a new high. He pardoned >1200 rioters convicted in Jan 6 riots. People died or were badly wounded. Let's call it what it is: a mockery of Justice. It can never, under any circumstances, be justified.

My decision on leadership for the Liberal Party. I will support Chrystia Freeland due to her political experience and her willingness to challenge some current policies that do not meet Canadian needs. Her success on negotiating w Trump are 2nd to none. Best to her team.

Canadians!!!. This is your Parliament on a confidence vote. Both sides of House with empty seats. Where are Cabinet Ministers & MPs? Virtual Parliament undermines the seriousness of debate & votes. Attendance on votes in Parliament should be compulsory.

2/2 A virtual meeting is a glorified Conference call. It’s time Prime Minister to meet the Premiers, and their trade ministers IN PERSON and debate, talk in the corridors, get to know each others issues and build a united strategy for Canada going forward. As long as it takes!!

1/2 A virtual meeting of our 1st Ministers in this country on the most important issue facing Canada going forward? Come on Prime Minister, you attend in person meetings for G20, G7, APEC and yet you’re not pulling every Premier together in Canada to face each other eye to eye.

Our order was half in unit then the air sirens go off. Therefore restaurant shuts down until all clear. Even so, traffic is heavy, sidewalks full - life goes on. This is in Brovary, Ukraine where our potatoes are stored

Saddened to learn of the passing of Ed Broadbent former leader of the NDP and truly a great Canadian. I was fortunate to meet him as a farm leader and as an MP. His vision of what Canada could be and his fight for policies to benefit Canadians was from his heart. A great loss.

I have decided to allow my name to stand for The Office of Speaker of The House of Commons. I am grateful to the voters of Charlottetown who have elected me 4 times to represent them in Parliament. I will do my best to do you proud. https://t.co/deG4PFO64z

Charlottetown MP Sean Casey says he is interested in taking over the job of Speaker for the House of Commons following the resignation of Anthony Rota earlier this week.

Happy Canada Day from Paris. Attending a conference on Free Iran. When you hear the stories of the abuses of human rights you do realize how fortunate we are in Canada

Politico Ottawa Playbook.2day “just past 11 MPs files in to the chamber for one last rd of votes ..the half filled room”. IS THIS THE NEW IMPROVED PARLIAMENT Holland bragged about? Even Party Leaders didn’t show up! Sad 4 Canadian democracy

Lot of talk this morning about this being the last week of the Parliament sitting before summer recess. Really!! with Mark Holland’s hybrid Parliament passed without real debate - isn’t Parliament just a place for MP’s to visit in the future? Whether for debate or a vote!!

Hybrid Parl (7) MPs present work across Party lines to hold Government to account. After all, Parliament is Supreme, not a Prime Minister and not a Cabinet and Parliament works best when MPs are present in both mind and body. Isn’t that why you ran to be a Member of Parliament?

Hybrid Parl (6) the key reason to strongly oppose a hybrid Parliament is it takes political and decision making authority away from MPs and passes that authority to the Executive Branch – the PMO in other words. MPs need to be present to challenge that authority, build alliances

Hybrid Parl (5) MPs have a responsibility to be present for votes, in my view, not to be relaxing at home or even attending something in the riding – Constituency weeks are designed for events and work at home.
