Warm Home Whitfield are meeting Saturday at 1pm at Pure Vibes community centre, Ebenezer Street, Glossop. Lots to discuss. Cold homes kill. We need to grow the support to ensure the government funds a proper roll out of improvements to upgrade Britains poor housing stock.

This needs to be a proper solution to the problem of poor insulation and not a get rich quick scheme for those with connections to the right people. Professional solutions provided to homes to cut energy usage and give a better environment for people to live in. #InsulateBritain

I chaired the discussion after the showing of the new Greenpeace film The Cost of Living. We heard harrowing testimony of how people are struggling to heat their homes this winter, but also how the solution to the cost-of-living crisis is also a solution to the climate crisis.

Heather from the NEF. NHS on its knees, homes that make us ill, we can’t continue like this. We can have an economy that can help the nhs, can improve living standards. We need to fight to get this to happen. Power is the community with a common factor for change.

Communities need to know they can make change, they have power, a voice that can be heard - Amanda @GreenpeaceUK we need to hold the govt to account. Investment in energy efficiency £6 billion from govt is needed. Renewable energy needs invested in, gas is 9 x the cost of renewa

Why should an 83 yr old woman volunteer in a charity shop all day to keep warm and be fed then go home to have a bath and to bed before 6pm because she can’t afford to heat or light her home. That’s no life! Time for change #warmthiswinter

Amanda speaking about her experience living in a rented property in Whitfield, a house with damp walls and drafty windows. She’s spent all her student nurse loans on retrofitting her insulating her home, she can’t afford to put her heating on.
