So farmers in North Rift have been hoarding maize as Kenyans suffer? That is economic subotage. They should not complain, actually the government should import more maize now, let them sell theirs at a loss or continue hoarding, Iwe funzo kwao.

No one is hoarding maize. Harvesting is still on going and for maize to dock at the port it must have been imported several months ago to coincide with harvesting period. As business person do not support government cartels keen on frustrating farmers.

Hoarding is a strong word. People are literally harvesting in Nakuru county right now.
The proper solution would be for the govt to offer better prices. To sell at less than 5k means a profit margin of less than Ksh800 per bag, considering the input cost.

Farmers can't sell at a loss after selling them fertilizers at exorbitant prices.

Yes infact William told us when he was a DP that we diversify our farming because one can't force government to buy maize from you at that exaggerated price eti inputs ilikua expensive si tungepanda avocado π₯ after all government has no kids to feed.

Who assures you that the maize coming would be sold at a cheaper price. Fertilizer prices soared all over. And hoarding is a common practice even in cryptocurrency and fx trade. Skieni vibaya uko. Let farmers enjoy their 5200 base price in peace.
