To support integrated neighbourhood care & Family Hubs, we need to grow social prescribing. Opportunities: 🔹Grow the social prescribing workforce 🔹 Explore family/proxy prescribing for under-5s 🔹 Build connecting skills & automate referrals 🔹 Tackle gaps in local provision

There are a variety of social prescribing services in the Borough: Be Well Walsall, Making Connections, PCN, Whg, Children’s Champions, Parent-Infant Wellbeing Champions.

What is social prescribing? In Walsall we define this as 'Social prescribers enable people along a journey to achieve their personal wellbeing goals in a way and at a pace which builds their personal resilience'.

Family Hubs are at the heart of support for children & young people in Walsall. In just 12 months, over 9,634 people visited one of our 4 hubs. They're a vital space for 0–19s (up to 25 with additional needs) to get help, advice & connection 👉 https://t.co/9nb3NGA2QB

If we do nothing, by 2040… 🔸 63% of under-16s in low-income families 🔸 1 in 4 kids with tooth decay 🔸 1 in 17 CYP with SEND 🔸 20% fewer CYP 5-18 active for 60 minutes daily 🔸 Walsall falling behind England national average 5+ GCSEs

Children & Young People’s priorities are clear and aligned with the Walsall Together vision: ✅ I am happy, healthy and well ✅ I am safe in all spaces ✅ I have a voice and am heard ✅ I am hopeful and excited for the future If we meet these, wellbeing will be improved.

Neighbourhood health is central to the NHS 10-year plan 👉 🔹 Move care closer to where people live 🔹 Focus on prevention, not just illness 🔹 Digital tools to improve access Today we're focusing on neighbourhood health as it applies to children and young people.
