When working at NBC I learned that Gene was a lighting guy on the show that they decided to build this bit around. It makes Gene Gene the Dancing Machine even funnier knowing that they plucked him from relative obscurity and made him an iconic household name. Loved that show.

Agreed. This show was. ahem. magical! First 1/2 of the season he lived on a jet. Second 1/2 of the season he lived at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. Wonderful show!.
Tony Blake (Bill Bixby), escapologist, professional stage magician & amateur sleuth. Blake was one of a merry band of TV lead characters who have served time on trumped up charges. I always felt The Magician deserved more than a single season.♠️🪄
