Two Allderdice students presented at ISEF! Daniel received the 1st Place in Microbiology & Landon got 3rd Place in Systems Software. Daniel will attend the Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar & Landon received the 1t-Place award in Cybersecurity from the NSA.

Congratulations to the 10 Allderdice students who competed this week at the PJAS State Competition! Our group brought home 9 First Place Finishes and one student was recognized by the Pennsylvania Science Talent Search committee.

Congratulations to Allderdice students Vipin & Olina!  They were accepted into the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences. They will spend five weeks this summer living at CMU, studying science and participating in research projects.

Results from the Pittsburgh Regional Science & Engineering Fair! 28 Allderdice students participated, 2 were selected to present at ISEF, 6 are category winners, 2 received awards from the Pittsburgh Foundation & 22 students received Special Awards from local sponsors & colleges.

The 6th Annual Research Symposium was a success! This year's keynote speakers were Albin (Allderdice, 2017) & Senior Quincy. 39 students presented their research to judges (U. Pitt & PPS) & parents. Sam (Allderdice, 2019) and Donise (Allderdice, 2021) chaired the judging process.

Congratulations to Allderdice Seniors Daniel, Arina & Michael for outstanding performances in the Junior Science & Humanities Symposium. Ariana earned a 2nd place award in biology and Daniel took first place overall. Daniel will represent PA at nationals!

Six Alumni returned to Allderdice on Friday to share their career journeys in STEM! Naomi (Enivronmental Engineer), Dhinar (Electrical Engineer), Eva (Bioengineer), Mia (Social Worker), Adriana (Psychologist) and Leah (Surgeon) presented their stories and fielded questions.

Bravo to 24 Allderdice students at the PJAS Regional Competition! 14 students qualified for states, 2 were recognized by local organizations, 6 received Perseverance awards, & 3 students were identified for submitting the TOP project in their category.

Allderdice students teamed up with students from Brashear to explore our universe. The CMU Astronomy Club, steered by Diane Turnshek, has welcomed these students on campus biweekly to learn about topics connected with the stars & skies.

Congratulations to Allderdice Senior Daniel. The Society for Science announced that Daniel has been named a top 300 STS Scholar. Daniel used molecular engineering to create a biosynthetic bandage and an electrochemical system to treat antibiotic resistant infections!

Allderdice students receive college credit for Physics! Daniel, Evelyn, Mason and Riley were accepted into the College in High School Program (U. Pitt) where they are earning credit for college-level Physics.

This week, Allderdice Physics students were treated to a tour of the Allegheny Observatory! They were able to speak with the Physics Department Chair (U. Pitt), see up close telescopes that made history and walk in the footsteps of Samuel P. Langley and John Brashear.

Allderdice student Quincy was invited to speak to the Pennsylvania Department of Health in Harrisburg. Results from a survey he helped design and implement over the summer will be used for HIV Prevention and Care in Pennsylvania. Congratulations Quincy!

Meet Allderdice student, Thomas. While at Colfax, Thomas completed a project that has been recognized by Broadcom MASTERS as one of the TOP 30 projects in the country! All projects will be on display through the end of November.

Allderdice students spent a day touring research laboratories at the University of Pittsburgh. They saw first-hand experiments in Chemistry, Engineering & Biology! The day ended with a lunch lecture where they learned how scientists track the spread of diseases.
