A few storms are possible late Sunday afternoon into the evening in eastern Iowa. Isolated severe storms are possible. Damaging wind and large hail are possible with any of the severe storms.

Here are some reports from the storms this afternoon. Most of the reports are west of I-35.

This upcoming weekend is could be a HOT one.

Air quality is good for most of the area. Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air.

A few showers are possible Monday. A little better chance northeast than southwest.

We average about 14 tornadoes during the month of June in Iowa. So far, there has been just one. That was Tuesday in far southeast Iowa. No severe weather is in the forecast through next week.

May and June are peak months for tornadoes in Iowa. Last month was VERY quiet when it came to tornado warnings. There was just 1 tornado warning issued in Iowa, in May. Now compare that with May 2024, a different story. Fingers crossed June is quiet as well.

Just before 8 PM Monday, a storm moved over the Waterloo Airport and produced a 52 mph wind gust. This is the strongest wind gust in Waterloo for the day. It also produced pea size hail east of town. #iaw

The Drought Monitor has not changed in the last week. The moderate drought is mainly north of Cedar Rapids.
