Henfield Levels 7 Tundra Bean Geese,13+ Russian white- fronted Geese & 4 Barnacle Geese with the usual Canadas & Greylags. Black- tailed Godwit,4 Dunlin,Snipe & 288 Lapwings noted. Black Swan with 91 Shovelers,69 Pintails and hundreds each of Teal & Wigeon, @SussexBirding

WWT Arundel Watching from the river bank 3 Hen Harriers,ringtail 15:18,male 16:22 & ringtail 16:24 came in to roost plus 2-3 marsh Harriers,54+ Cattle Egrets & a Redhead Goosander. Peregrine,Red Kites,Black Swan,Raven,Mandarin,Water rail,Cetti’s warbler noted @SussexBirding

Ashdown Forest Carried out one of my WeBs counts in very wet conditions this morning,105 Common Snipe,1 Jack Snipe & 1 Woodcock. Dropped into WW res on the way back where 71 Pochards were noted at the west end.

Weir Wood 62 Pochards,Great white Egret,Goshawk,Peregrine & https://t.co/HdpGMU3J5R the Reed bed 2,300 Starlings and 26 Reed Buntings drop in to roost plus 2 Water rails heard. Then 2 Woodcock,4 Snipe & 3 Teal over at dusk plus 4 Tawny Owls calling.

Weir Wood Lovely male Marsh Harrier flew east late morning,in set aside fields 100 Chaffinches,10 Goldfinches,8 Reed Buntings,2 Yellowhammers & 1 Brambling. Ducks included 21 Mandarins,18 Pochards,5 Wigeon,3 Tufties & 1 Teal.

Sunrise Nr Staplefield Female Goshawk up at first light,8 Hawfinch dropped into trees on right just after sunrise and Red Kites coming out of roost. Thousands of Woodpigeons on the move in all directions,2 Greenfinch several Fieldfares and Redwings noted.

Woods Mill SWT Yesterday popped along to see the Isabelline shrike sp,showed well at times but mostly distant. Flock of 30+ Fieldfares flew over SW noted.

Rackham VP White tailed Eagle was eating a goose on the ground near its favourite tree,Glossy Ibis showed well but Whooper Swan was distant. Ruff with 180+ Lapwings,2 smart Marsh Harriers,thousands of Geese but where are the ducks. Similar at Henfield Levels,low numbers of ducks

Weir Wood 344 Greylags on recently cut maize fields,7 Chiffchaffs around still. Plenty of Redwings,Lesser Redpolls, fewer Siskins,Chaffinch and Goldfinch today. 3 Lapwings,13 Common Gulls and 2 Mistle Thrushes over.A very high circling Heron appeared still not 100% on species.

Weir Wood This morning a flock of 33 Fieldfares flew over my first of the winter,small numbers of Redwings and 38 Chaffinches. First Pochard back a Ring necked Parakeet fly over our 140th species this year. Small fast high flying falcon looked very Merlin like but not 100% sure

Weir Wood Pleased to have found a Yellow browed Warbler on call this morning,sadly just located which bush it was in then it flew to larger trees calling several times then vanished. 2 Bramblings,40+ Redwings,40 Chaffinches,20 Siskins,5 Skylarks and 3 Redpolls.@SussexBirding

Outstrays NR Highlights this morning including a stunning male Hen Harrier hunting over the fields,5+ Marsh Harriers,1 Glossy Ibis,3+ Great white Egrets,2 Green Sandpipers,Snipe,Lapwings,Gadwall,Redwings,Cetti’s warblers,Pink footed geese and thousands of wildfowl + Waders.
