The screens of the Judicial Learning Center have been updated with a photo collage in memory of Justice Tim Armstead. Those coming to the Capitol today can visit the memorial display on the 3rd Floor of the East Wing outside the Supreme Court Courtroom.

Justice Thomas H. Ewing was officially sworn in as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Appeals of in a small ceremony with family and friends on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 27, 2025. Justice Ewing plans to hold a full public investiture at a later date.

Today the Harrison County Treatment Court honored 4 participants (1 Veterans Treatment Court and 3 Adult Drug Court) in a graduation ceremony in Judge Christopher McCarthy’s courtroom in Clarksburg, WV.

Wirt County Courts will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 20, due to a scheduled power outage. Magistrates and Mental Hygiene Commissioners will be available on call.

On Wednesday, August 13, the Raleigh County Family Treatment Court honored 5 participants in a graduation ceremony in Beckley, WV. Justice Haley Bunn attended the ceremony on behalf of the Supreme Court.

On Monday, August 11, the Wood County Family Treatment Court honored 3 participants in a graduation ceremony at Judge Jason Wharton’s courtroom in Parkersburg, WV. Justice Haley Bunn attended the ceremony on behalf of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia today announced it has secured a $280,000 State Opioid Response grant which will be used to fund the operations of Family Treatment Courts through September. Read More:

Marshall County Magistrate Court and Probation Offices are currently experiencing a power outage. Magistrate Court staff will be available on an on-call basis in the Circuit Court building for emergency issues. Power restoration is expected around 3 p.m.
