By embedding policies in the Official Plan that support a variety of housing types and densities, such as six-plexes, townhomes, stacked townhomes, and mid-rises across the city in all residential designations, we can be a national leader on housing reforms 2/3

We need mid-rise infill to address our housing crisis. @fordnation has failed to address this.

It's no wonder @FordNation has gone silent on our housing crises. Housing starts are DOWN and the experts say it's Ontario's own knee-capping of mid-rise infill (in favour of highway sprawl) that's been making it impossible to end the housing shortage. https://t.co/R4QUBoei4N

🧵After years of promising it would end the housing shortage by delivering 1.5 million new homes by 2031, the #onpoli government was forced to admit in its fall economic statement that it's failing completely. Housing starts are actually falling! Why? https://t.co/R4QUBoei4N

This report for @envirodefence is well worth reading. Lots of ideas for facilitating mid-rise apartment buildings to address our housing shortage and for environmental benefits- including zoning to allow them much more broadly as-of-right

Why isn't #onpoli's housing supply keeping up with housing need? New expert report commissioned by my @EnviroDefence team: Ontario governments' restrictions on mid-rise apartment buildings have been making it impossible to end the housing shortage.🧵👇 https://t.co/Bo1SopMCQ7

The notwithstanding clause was never foreseen as a mechanism to allow targeting of vulnerable community members exercising their basic right to shelter and survival. It should cause us great concern

Solutions include: using government land for non-market housing, prioritizing deeply affordable housing, and scaling up multi-unit housing near transit and services.
