This young coati is in the care of WRR after being kept illegally as a "pet" in a San Antonio backyard. She will remain at our 212-acre Sanctuary where her life will, to some extent, mimic the life she would have had in the wild. Press release here:

Each year, WRR spends over $45,000 on propane alone to heat the 47 warmhouses used by residents of the Sanctuary. Your donations help offset the rising cost of fuel and other warming needs during our annual Winter Prep Drive (ends Friday, January 13th).

The Big Cat Public Safety Act has been signed into law, outlawing the private possession of big cats and banning exhibitors from subjecting them to human contact. This is a critical step forward, and we anticipate increased and enhanced animal protection measures in the future.

Please call and let your councilperson know that you support a ban on horse-drawn carriages in San Antonio. Please contact the office of Mayor @Ron_Nirenberg as well. Your time will be well spent helping to rid our city streets of this archaic and unkind mode of transportation.

This coati was rescued from the “pet” trade. Instead of being caged, she now spends her days climbing branches and enjoying interesting enrichment, along with her diverse diet. Hers is one of the many lives that will benefit from your Giving Tuesday gift.
