Monday, the 1st day of the 12th Annual Subcommittee Meeting started with Major Group& Stakeholders Morning briefing which brought together accredited NGOs to: 🔹Finalize on the Joint Statement 🔹Coordinate their plans and action for the week 🔹Inform each other of their activity

Out of strategic caution and to avoid triggering further debate, the group consciously decided not to make formal interventions during that day’s contact groups, prioritizing diplomacy over confrontation.

In response to growing pressure to remove those terms, the group proposed alternative language formulations to preserve the essence of gender balance without increasing tensions.

Multiple bilateral meetings with Party delegations were held to align strategies and reinforce the critical importance of retaining the terms gender equality and gender balance in the draft text.

Day 4 was marked by strategic participation across various contact groups, where members closely followed and contributed to key negotiations.

On the forth & fifth days of the OEWG SPP 3.2 meeting in Punta del Este, Uruguay, the @WMGUNEP actively engaged in the discussions, continuing its steadfast advocacy for gender equality and gender balance in environmental policymaking.
