I've been wrestling with how to instill hope and inspiration in young engineers regarding a range of issues and concerns I share with them. Let me know what you think about my three-tier framework over on LI.

Glad a rescue occurred! The prep work of local fire departments, rescue crews, EMTs, paramedics, and ER staff really makes a difference. But, we also need to invest equal thinking and effort in prevention. Thanks for sharing @maxarmstrong
Grain Bin RESCUE (not recovery) in Central Illinois. Nokomis FPD received aid from Fillmore, Witt and Pana FD’s, as well as the MABAS Division 48 Technical Rescue Team. Took one hour after call came in. #greatsave

I want to do 100% due diligence & NOT speculate on this. But law enforcement and coroner's office(s) investigating this incident MUST look CAREFULLY when doing lab analyses. I've seen too many botched investigations.

I'm hoping it's possible to be BOTH thoughtful and a bit crabby (and jaded) at the same time without alienating or pissing anyone off. If I'm wrong, so be it. In the Footnotes of a Career

Moving USDA from of DC. How's that going to work for ag politically? It seems when a legislator needs information or an idea, staff can be over at a hearing or in a nearby leg. office in a matter of minutes. If they are in Raleigh or Salt Lake City or Indy, that ain't gonna work.

How do you teach pesticide applicators about stress and safety? With a play. “Stressticide” reached 6,000+ people across multiple states and sparked a follow-up program, “Farm Alarm,” that hit 38 states. Here’s the story of how it all started. https://t.co/cAbZJU1Dwk

Was checking out weekly crop report to assist my Mom in NW Indiana on corn condition - I note no new "Weekly" reports online since the end of May.... Any idea why? Or did they get doge'd?

If I had access to this information and the book written by the guest on this podcast, 17 years ago, maybe I would still be in administration today. 😉

It's clear from doing professional development for Extension colleagues that using gen AI w/a "human-in-the-loop" mindset does not come intuitively. We need to coach & train that LLM-based AI tools are not simply glorified Google searches or wizards 🪄🧙♂️

Btw. No I’m not going to work in DC. I would if I could but I can’t so I won’t. Spent a full week there 12 years ago reviewing the specialty crop initiative (SCRI) working directly with the NIFA director at the time. Longest year of my life. Paid well like 6 bucks an hour.

I cannot think of a more interesting thing than to work on agricultural issues in DC these next four years. It's gonna be a wild, wooly, unpredictable roller coaster.
