@bemusedbackpack I was just curious how people feel about the upcoming change…it’s a discussion point. But I can understand if it’s being misunderstood, as well.

@WFireflies It isn’t a visa in the traditional sense. You won’t have to make an appointment at a consulate, won’t need to bring itineraries, bank statements, etc. All you need is register online and pay a fee. It’s reciprocality for what visitors from VWP countries do when entering the U.S.

@FormerlyWTC Interesting!! I didn’t entirely know the full picture. Thank goodness, as the other route would be incredibly tedious. #Travel #traveling #travelingabroad

@WFireflies Please stop putting out this misinformation. ETIAS is not a visa, just the opposite, it is a visa-waiver program, same as the US ESTA and it is not about 'Europe', it applies to the Schengen countries. You don't need an ETIAS for non-Schengen countries such as the UK and Ireland

@toptraveller I understand your feelings…the article calls it a “visa”…I simply asked everyone’s feelings on the matter.

@WFireflies 💪🇪🇺🇺🇸 In a move of reciprocated retaliation, finally the EU takes a stand against ESTA requirements for EU passports. A display of self-respect and a step towards fair travel policies. Let's celebrate this milestone! 🎉🗺️ #TravelNews #EUStand #FairTravel #LetsMakeEUGreatAgain

@WFireflies It’s like $8, applied for online, and most of them will be approved on the spot. I am hearing so much noise about this, but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t seem like a big deal.

@WFireflies @philandkenzie I think it’s terrible for the shengen zone and all of the citizens that will need to get this to travel to the shengen zone. Both ETSA and ETIAS are unnecessary and authoritarian. We should be working toward more freedom of movement, not less.

@WFireflies This is the first time I realized the Schengen area allows free movement through most Europe and not the EU. I didn’t understand the difference until reading up on this. So if nothing else, this is educational!!! 😀
