A 4.2 magnitude
#earthquake
has been reported 60 miles south of
#Boston
and just 35 miles southeast of Providence, Rhode Island.
There is no tsunami threat from this quake but it was felt by many in the northeast this morning at 9:10 am. It was about 12 miles deep.
And we're off!

In case you didn't know, I'm out here chasing storms with (
@msstate
) Mississippi State University where I'm getting my masters. This is a graduate course and we've got professionals on board to keep us extra safe!
I can't even explain how gorgeous of a day it is here on the space coast....just perfect for the launch of

, I swear they will NEVER get old!

moves into the Caribbean today with plenty of challenges ahead. Dry air continues to keep the inner core unorganized. Higher wind shear, a mountainous island and the dry air will be key over the next few days. Here's the latest:

Won't be able to wipe this smile off my face for a while!! 😁

WOW! Beautiful coloring on this sunrise. Julie Schaffner Jones said it only lasted about one minute. She was in the right place at the right time :)

Here are all the major hurricanes to landfall in the continental U.S. in the last five hurricane seasons.
Adding Irma & Zeta. Relatively ragged landfall eyes compared to the others.
5pm update is a trend farther west. The cone no longer includes any of Tampa Bay.
On the current forecast track, the Tampa area will see increased rain chances on Monday but if the storm stays west, we may actually be a bit drier on Tue. Stay tuned for updates over the weekend.
Photographer Dave Kraut & I are over in Cape Canaveral this evening for the Inspiration 4 launch!
It's a huge milestone for human spaceflight. 4 private citizens will launch to 350 miles above earth but it's all for a good cause -> St. Jude Details:
The strongest winds are just 30-40 miles offshore in
#Ian
. The storm is moving at 10 mph so they will move on land in Englewood, Venice, North Port &
sections of Sarasota Co. beginning at or just before 11a.
This is when you NEED to be in your SAFE place w/ pillows/protection.
I'm ready for the parade! It's a beautiful day for
#Gasparilla
festivities, a little cool, but nothing a light jacket can't handle 😊🏴☠️
I'll be walking with the
@WFLA
Storm Chaser this afternoon, say hi when I walk by!

Tropical Storm Marco in the Gulf this morning helped to send more clouds our way but MAN did we get a sunrise!! Check this one out from David Kawchak at City Pier on Anna Maria Island.
Bravo, David!! 💯

In typical

fashion....all in one photo: Wet roads, dark clouds, a rainbow and sunshine 😂

PS. This nice weather doesn't stick around forever-->
Wearing purple today for
#DressForSTEM
....this is the 5th year female meteorologists across the country have worn purple to promote more women in STEM career fields. It's normally on Pi Day (3.14) but since that fell on a Saturday, we're doing both today & tomorrow. 💜

I had the great pleasure of meeting
@TrooperBob_SCHP
himself today!! Thanks for stopping by the
@WBTWNews13
studio as well as everything you do for us!
The roads are slick 💦 out there so make his job🚨 easy ✔️ this weekend and slow 🚧 down! 🏍️
Not a picture of the rocket itself but my nephews 🥹 this was the moment of engine ignition of tonight's
@SpaceX
's Falcon Heavy rocket. It was their first time seeing one 👏🙌🏼 ❤️
Mom never fails me, I had to give her one last wave from South Carolina as she watches online in Sarasota. Soon, she'll be just a short drive away! Love you, mom!
@SusanWeedman1
We are officially ON OUR WAY back to the moon with a human rated spacecraft for the first time in 50 years!!
The launch was 🔥💯 absolutely incredible. Congratulations to everyone who worked on this project, you have outdone yourselves!!

I might normally question the authenticity of a picture of this pretty but since my fiance sent it to me I'll let it slide.... But still, how crazy awesome?! 😱😱

Tonight is the last earliest
#sunset
of the year in
#Tampa
! (5:34 pm)
The sunset time will **slowly** begin to get later and later from here on out. It's a slow process to start and not until Jan 20th will sunset be AFTER 6pm....but it is a start!
@WFLA
Of the buoys that are reporting in the Gulf...the waves are LARGE. Waves are approaching 30 feet high near the center. The swells are pushing outward and seas are 4-5 feet high just off the
#Tampa
coastline. Stay out of the water along the gulf coast today, please.
#ida
@WFLA
It hasn't been this "chilly" since April 12th!
Did you get to enjoy it this morning? We'll have a couple more chances to see the 50s again this week.
#flwx
WOW! Downright beautiful sunrise this morning on Grassy Lake in Lake Placid. This is inland in Highlands County.

Two thumbs up.
👀 I've loved clouds my entire life and they'll never get old, especially when they're as stunning as this monster shelf cloud. 😍

I want the 🌞 to return as much as most of you do but as long as we keep getting storms like this moving in, I'll live!

Soggy, not sunny this weekend in Florida. I'm tracking heavy downpours moving up along the coast all morning long.
Passing downpours will be likely throughout the day and continue some on Sunday.

Today's storms (some strong to severe) are thanks to a cold front! The actual front will move through later this afternoon. The cooler/drier air will slowly trickle in through the next few days with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 60s for the weekend!
#flwx
#Tampa
@WFLA
Something to be thankful for.....winter arriving! The coldest temps so far this season move in next week.
These are your forecast morning low temps Tuesday through Thursday in
#Tampa
.
#Brrrr
Heading back in from a little offshore fishing yesterday evening. After I got off work, it was still calm enough to run 25 miles offshore and catch a few 🐟.
#flwx
seriously, doesn't get better than this!
Sometimes I have to stop & ask myself if what's happening is really real.
Look at the people on the platform to get an idea of how big this rocket really is. This
@NASA_SLS
rocket will launch the
@NASA_Orion
capsule on top back to the moon through the
@NASAArtemis
program! 🚀
Does picture perfect even describe this?! Nope. The rumble, the brightness, the extremely short amount of time it took for this rocket to get off the ground...WOW. truly amazed....GO

We're headed back to OKC today as my Storm Chase class comes to a close. I am forever grateful & never imagined I would have experienced what have! Thank you

I spy....relief! An actual cold front arrives Thursday.
Long-range forecast models continue to hint at a pattern change bringing below average temps to the

area by the end of the week.

New head shots coming for the

Thanks Matt Larson for the pics and

The beach is my happy place... ☀️ in my hair and sand in my toes. The water was even a pretty blue-green today at Springmaid beach 🌊

SUNDAY: I can't say it enough but it will be the nicest day
#Tampa
has had in a while after tonight's front.
Super dry & relatively cool air will usher in & while temps will warm into the mid-80s, it will feel like fall in
#florida
should in mid-October.
Back at Kennedy Space Center for the third launch attempt of the
@NASA_SLS
Artemis I rocket! The countdown has been rather smooth so far and the liquid hydrogen hasn't given them any problems. The tank is currently full and being topped off until launch.
Wooooo. Thank you to everyone who wished me luck for my exam today! It's over. I won't know results for a few weeks. Phew- one thing down, many more exciting things to come over the next few weeks!!
#home
Did you see the
@SpaceX
launch this morning? Maybe the remnants? These pre-dawn launches are ALWAYS a treat with gorgeous 'noctilucent' clouds! the rocket contrail is being lit up by the sun's rays because it is so high in altitude!
Some call them 'space jellyfish' but

📸: Robert Rempert - Sunset on Lido Key last night.
Just gorgeous! I expect many of these to continue through next week as Saharan dust arrives in the Gulf.
Nice ISS passover
#Tampa
this evening at 9:28 pm. Look WSW near the horizon...it will travel up to 28° and move off to the NNE and take about 6 minutes.
@WFLA
The 11 am track update on Tropical Depression Nine shows a major category 3 hurricane approaching the peninsula of Florida next week.
Now is the time to stay informed & check back often for updates. Changes to this forecast are possible as the system continues to organize.

#MaxDefender8
is tracking strong storms moving in from the Gulf from Citrus down to Pinellas County.
Gusty winds, very heavy rain and lightning will occur as these storms move through at about 35 mph.
Track them with Max Defender 8:
Heads up: Hernando and Pasco Co. A line of strong gusty winds is moving quickly northeast. Gusts in excess of 40 mph are possible as this batch of heavy rain/gusty winds move through.
5 AM
#MaxDefender8
: A line of storms is moving south through the
#Tampa
area this morning. Expect torrential rain, lightning and gusty winds as it passes.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect through 7am.
The rain will clear out by midday.

Flying back to

this morning. Still reminiscing on the unforgettable adventure that wrapped up yesterday with some awesome people. It's been a great vacation/learning experience/bucket list with some real cool folks.
#tired
but
#worthit
, worth every single minute.
We have been chilling in Pampa, TX this afternoon. Finally got some storms to fire and we're on the move north!! In the meantime, while waiting earlier, we were next to trains (which I LOVE) and we flattened a few penny's 😍
