READINESS REVIEW: Make an emergency plan today. Your family may not be together if disaster strikes. Know how you’ll contact one another & reconnect if separated. Establish a familiar meeting place. Inform your kids so they will be prepared, not scared.

Look out for each other! If you haven't already, talk with your neighbors about building a support network in case of a disaster that affects where you all live. In an emergency like a tornado or flood, the people closest to you can help the fastest.

The @NWSNashville expects Hurricane Francine's remnants to affect Middle TN starting tomorrow. Primary threat: heavy rain, flooding, with a low tornado risk through the weekend. Because it's been so dry, the ground won't absorb heavy rainfall as quickly. Watch for flash flooding.

Officials test the county's outdoor warning system at 1PM the first Saturday of each month, unless there's inclement weather. The sirens are meant to warn those who are outside. Though you may hear them from indoors, have additional alert systems in place.
