6/ While we’re not looking at a major crisis, we do need better drug education and harm reduction strategies. Many young people view ketamine as relatively "safe," but long-term health risks like bladder damage are often overlooked.

5/ Despite its rising popularity, ketamine doesn’t feature prominently in drug-related death stats. Roughly 30 deaths annually are linked to ketamine, often combined with other substances.

4/ One of the biggest health risks associated with ketamine misuse is "ketamine bladder," a condition causing severe urinary tract damage. Since 2019, NHS urologists have reported an “explosion” in cases, but data remains vague.

3/ The number of young people seeking treatment for ketamine misuse has also risen, from 512 in 2021/22 to 719 in 2022/23. Among adults, treatment cases rose from 1,551 to 2,211 over the same period. 🚨

2/ In 2021, 0.6% of 11-15-year-olds reported using ketamine in the past year—down from 1% in 2018. Among 16-24-year-olds, usage rose to 3.8% in 2022/23 from 3.2% in 2019/20. A growing trend, but not an explosion. 📊
