‼️There are things I HAVEN'T accounted for in this test (namely HLODs) so those experiments are for you to do on your own😅 🚨The material isn't showing on the HISM version as it's a FAB pack and I couldn't check a material setting to make it work. It has negligible impact though

TO SUM UP: ‼️Consider using HISMs if you're making a big open-world ‼️Can be a pain to work with when you're used to normal workflows (ctrl+v etc) ‼️Mesh Optimisation. If your original SM is optimised well it will pay dividends down the line ‼️ Kitbashing is your best friend!

‼️You CAN'T select and duplicate multiple instances at once (yes, I hand duplicated all 1300 just for this experiment🫠) ‼️If the HISM origin is in render distance, then ALL instances will be rendered no matter what. Keep this in mind for switch players etc.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN USING HISMs: ‼️You must use custom static meshes, Fortnite props don't work with it ‼️This is only really worth it if you reuse meshes a lot. This technique allows for hundreds/thousands of one mesh for cheap ‼️You can re-scale each instance, BUT...
