Finally some much-needed good news. Delighted we have managed to keep Dave - he really shoved on last season and was one of our most consistent players - It's really big to keep him. Hopefully it's a deal for a few years... Hopefully the first of many positive announcements.
Galway United are delighted to confirm that David Hurley will be returning for another season! Dave was a vital part of the squad last year, delivering standout performances and scoring crucial goals that played a key role in helping us retain our Premier Division status. We’re

At this stage last season, we had 11 players under contract, basically the spine of our team was signed. We're not into December yet and more or less half of our squad has left (mostly starters), and one or two more are expected to leave (Slevin). Comms at the club are terrible.

It was well-known that a lot of players were going to move on after this season, but I don't think this much of a rebuild was anticipated. It's hard to have great confidence in JC putting together another competitive squad - a lot of his recruitment has been haphazard at best.

The optics of this off-season have been nothing short of terrible. Key player after key player leaving. No communication from the club (big surprise) on the situation of the manager or players re-signing. 10 players have left and not one signing/re-signing has been announced. 👎

A bold new strategy from the club, drip feeding the departures of key players.. That's sure to bolster our season ticket sales! 🙈

Best of luck to @BrenClarke1, and thanks for everything. It's hard to think of a player that has made a bigger impact in such a short period of time. Experienced, wily, an absolute winner. Drove standards at the club - will be a huge loss. One of the best keepers we've ever had.

If a Kerry player did that, McLaughlin would’ve 100% sent them off. No question. Burke a lucky lucky boy.

Burke lucky not to go there, totally lost the head. It was a full blooded tackle from Adams, but you can’t react like that. The ref didn’t have the gonads to send him off.

Enjoying Sean Maguire’s performance tonight - showing he’s still a top player. Great hold up play, giving Cork an out-ball when they’re under heavy pressure. Troubled Pats all-night. Great link up play at times.

Sligo being over 3/1 tomorrow is baffling to me. They're in much better form over the last few months, we can't buy a win. Also Hurley is an absolutely huge out for GUFC, been our best player for the last few months - drives us on. Disaster to lose him for both Cork and Sligo.

Brilliant finish by Gravenberch there, reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo's goal in Anfield for Real Madrid in the Champions League

Not sure if it's just me or not, but the new Sky Sports jingle is absolutely horrific. Annoying to listen to it. They're usually really catchy

Great first half in Tolka, real end-to-end stuff. Two teams going for it. Lots of niggle - just what you want. One of the more entertaining games I've had on in the background this season.

Disappointed with Happy Gilmore 2 - didn't have high hopes, but somehow it even fell short of that. Loved the original, but 2 has no story, it's full of re-hashed gags from the first film and celebrities are just mindlessly pushed into without any thought. 5.5/10. #HappyGilmore2

Great Cup draw for both. Loads of ex GUFC/LOI players playing for Devon, a few of which that would love to get one over on JC. United are in very poor form at the moment and lack a bit of confidence, it could be a tricky enough tie. It sounds like it will be played in Terryland.

Hard watch tonight. We capitulated in the second half - which is something I wouldn’t associate with this group. Unfortunately there are 2-3 players that JC is starting regardless of their form - they’re well-past it and don’t have the legs anymore. Season is petering out fast.
