Make no mistake here, the Vivre Cards should be used as they include additional information directly from Oda or what he considers to be accurate information but if the manga or Oda himself contradicts something from them of course Oda has the last word on what's canon or not 🤦

Ever since the panel of the Gorosei meeting dropped I knew it wasn't Shanks. Oda clearly wanted to add a twin brother for Shanks but he changed the final design to not have them look identical, there was no retcon other than minor details about design and some other minor things.
Asking a man who can teleport freely “why did you come all the way here “ why it's hard to accept that oda simply made a retcon, then you can like it or not it’s up to you, but denying the retcon is stupid imo
