Sunday 6th July has been full of traffic jams, road closures, blinding rain with no visibility, and service station menus that we could read. We were home πŸ˜‚. Total Mileage for the holiday: 2,427ml.Smiles per gallon: infinite & priceless 😁

Selfies for the Jag sorted, all that was left was for us to head across to Caen and our drunken overnight ferry, which meant another few hours in the saddle. For this one last blast, we took to the open roads of continental Europe.

Now, one of the old pits still retains it's old Jaguar logos, so I think you can guess what had to happen. It really is a wonderful old place.

The main stretch of public road here used to be the start straight for the Reims grand prix track of the 50s & 60s. Much of the old structure around the straight still exists, some of it old & crumbling, but much of it period-maintained. It's a little mecca for petrol heads.

And then, our interesting halfway point stop-off. At Reims-Gueux.

Saturday 5th July was the day we headed back ferrywards, and it was going to be a bit of a long haul, but with, what we hoped would be, an interesting halfway point. First, we had four-or-so hours of the open roads of continental Europe.

This is one of Colmar's most iconic buildings, the Pfister house, dating from the 15th Century.

Once that was done, and the Jag was back at the hotel, we enjoyed the sights of Colmar, realising we were staying in another wonderful place that we wished we had more time to visit. It's just one stunning building after another, and then another after that 😍

On Friday 4th, the Jag wanted to be pampered because it wanted to look nice on a selfie tomorrow, so we had to go and find a car wash.

And so onto the Furkapasse. Wow! It just goes from beatiful, stunning scenery to beatiful, frightening scenery with massive drops! Wow! It was brilliant! The open roads of continental Europe, Swiss style #2. The high speed blast into France had nothing of note after that 😁.

Before we got to the Furka Pass, we had the surreal experience of the 17km/11mi long Gotthard Tunnel. The open roads of continental Europe, Swiss style #1.

And secondly, we had the exciting prospect of driving on the Furka Pass, famous for being used in Goldfinger, notorious for being one of the most dangerous roads in Switzerland, and also famous for having the infamous deserted Hotel Belvedere near its summit.
