The SL has been out of hibernation for a few weeks. Gorgeous drives in it over the weekend, and a bit of camping in between. It’s very grubby, and the ‘must sort that for the Merc’ to-do list is only getting longer, but it’s running beautifully and it makes me very happy.

So, the unusually large buffer - 53/43kWh - is mostly to enable faster average charging. Peak rates 100kW, which Ford chief tells me the Puma will do consistently for as much as 17mins, then 6/7min at 80kW (well past 80% charge). Plus the usual battery degradation benefits, too.

On that there #Ford Puma Gen-E launch. Battery intrigue over the NMC battery’s unusually huge gross/net disparity… I shall report back when I’ve spoken to someone who knows the answer. Love a bit of battery geekery.

Impressed at the efficiency in the #Audi A6 e-tron RWD big battery. For a big estate, I’d say 3.7m/kWh and a real range of 300 miles (at motorway speeds and spring temps) isn’t bad. Not sure about the illuminated rear badge. Cool or tacky? (‘Scuse the rubbish photos…)

Lots of fun driving Maseratis yesterday. Blimey, that GranCabrio Folgore looks good, doesn’t it? 751bhp, electric four-seat convertible. 0-62mph in 2.8sec. Wowzers. It is rather fun! Not cheap, at £185k. Nor light, at over 2.3 tonnes. But it is utterly gorgeous.
