Living with T1 diabetes is hard, it’s a 24/7 job with no day off EVER! Diabetes technology helps to take away some of the decisions & ease the burden. Meaning less time thinking about diabetes and more time to focus on life Thx @sotonDSN for the diabetes maths inspiration 💙

🤔 effect of protein and fat on digestion, 🏃🏻‍♀️exercise in the next couple of hours 🤒what if I’m unwell 😡 where am I in my menstrual cycle 🤯 physical & emotional stress The list is endless… FACT: #PWD on average make 180 extra decisions every day about their diabetes 😱

• May need to subtract some insulin based on any ‘insulin on board’ I have in my body from any previous insulin given in the last few hours. 🤔 What happens if I give the insulin and then I don’t eat the whole bowl? And then there are other factors to consider…

• work out how much insulin to give based on my insulin to carb ratio. Let’s say that it’s 1 unit for every 7.5g… But what If my glucose is above target? Let’s say my glucose is 12.0 & ⬆️ and my target is 6.0…. • Add a correction dose based on my correction (ISF) factor.

• Know the carbs per 100g of the granola, yoghurt and raspberries. • work out my portion by weighing or measuring the granola, yoghurt and raspberries. • I got 66g of carbs from my calculations (my granola appears to be about 3 x the recommended 27g portion size 😂

It’s #diabetesweek and this is an awareness 🧵 I tried to count my carbs for one day and concluded that I am terrible at it! Maths is not my strong point so this took a lot of brain 🧠 power!! & this was just for one meal….
