Here in Victoria the Lobby has been pushing the state government to expand our anti-vilification laws to better protect LGBTIQA+ people from hate – a change that is sorely needed and long overdue. Hopefully this report will be the turning point.

In response, the report makes a number of recommendations for reform including a call to strengthen anti-vilification legislation across the country.

The report, which highlights the experiences of over 3000 people, found that:. 👉 1 in 2 trans participants experienced anti-trans hate.👉 1 in 10 trans participants experienced anti-trans violence.👉 9 in 10 participants witnessed anti-trans hate online.

Today the Trans Justice Project and the Victorian Pride Lobby released a ground-breaking report into anti-trans hate in Australia. You can read it in full here:

It was a very constructive roundtable and we thank all those who attended in both Melbourne and Sydney. We'll have more to update the community on soon. 4/4.

In response we made a number of recommendations to help insurers improve LGBTIQA+ customer experiences. And today we met with insurers and community groups to take stock of what has been achieved in the last twelve months and what is still yet to be done. 3/4.

Our report revealed that almost 1 in 2 LGBTIQA+ people had faced discrimination or exclusion when seeking insurance. It also found that over 3 in 4 trans and gender diverse people had had difficulty self-declaring their gender with insurers. 2/4.

Today the Victorian Pride Lobby hosted a roundtable to mark one year since the release of our 'Worth the Risk' report. This report was the first-of-its-kind and explored LGBTIQA+ experiences with the Australian insurance industry. 1/4
