Allowing vets to participate in medical marijuana programs and receive treatment plans from their VA doctors like anyone else are simple fixes with bipartisan support. It's time for lawmakers to finish the job and enact these measures this year.

This move is long overdue and will facilitate more comprehensive medical research and improve patient access to cannabis-based treatments. This is critical for our Veterans, as they increasingly rely on cannabis as a safe and effective treatment for ongoing health issues. (2/2).

The Veterans Cannabis Project applauds today’s announcement from @POTUS that the administration is moving forward on the next step to reschedule cannabis, from a Schedule I to a Schedule III drug, under the Controlled Substances Act. (1/2).

Too many lives have been upended because of our failed approach to marijuana. So today, the @TheJusticeDept is taking the next step to reclassify marijuana from a Schedule I to a Schedule III drug under federal law. Here's what that means:

We applaud the Administration for recognizing the harm caused by this inappropriate designation and making this much needed change. While this represents progress, there is still much to be done in the fight for effective cannabis reform on behalf of the veteran community. (2/3).

We strongly support the @DEAHQ decision to reclassify marijuana as a Schedule III controlled substance. This move is an important step in eliminating the stigma surrounding veterans’ access to cannabis as a treatment option. (1/3) 🧵👇.

Although some medical marijuana protections are in this year's MilCon-VA Approps bills, their safety is not guaranteed once a final spending deal is reached. Kudos to @RepBrianMast, @repblumenauer, @repdinatitus & @RepLCD for fighting to maintain these vital provisions.

The longer alternatives like cannabis are no longer criminalized and stigmatized, the harder the road transitioning away from opioids will be. Our veteran community needs safer treatment solutions, not harmful ones.

Per @Gallup, 7 in 10 Americans think marijuana should be legal - the highest level EVER. There is majority support across the board, regardless of age, gender, or political party. Continuing to cut vets off from cannabis access is ignoring the will of the American people.
