Sometimes an author comes up with concepts for a character that are intriguing but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Sometimes the author's biases and prejudices bleed into the character, hindering their writing. There's many reasons this can happen honestly.
I don't understand people who say "*insert character* i am so sorry that man is your author" because, like, you only liked that character because the author wrote it that way, if it was another person writing it wouldn't be the same character at all
