I once came face-to-face with a wolf while walking a 150lb Newfoundland dog and my first thought upon seeing the wolf was "Jesus Christ that thing is fucking huge"

@VeryBadLlama It's like crows and ravens. If you see a big black bird and think "I wonder if that's a crow or a raven", it's a crow. If you see a big black bird and think 'holy shit that thing is fucking huge", it's a raven

@VeryBadLlama Your Newfoundland would have weighed more than the wolf, though. Wolves can be pretty tall & fluffy, but they're not bulky animals

@VeryBadLlama Majority of people are completely unaware how enormous wolves are compared to big dogs, and watching people find out is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. Unfortunately, knowing first hand the size of them does not impede my 'awww who's a cute puppy' instinct whatsoever π©

@VeryBadLlama I took a wrong turn once in Europe ( driving around at night with no satnav, idiot π€¦ββοΈ) and ended up on a single track road with nowhere to turn and a massive drop at the side, eventually got to a huge house and had the embarrassment of turning round in their driveway, a light

@VeryBadLlama That is a healthy coyote. I have them in my area, and see them wandering down the street at night sometimes
